Grantville Little League will be the host of our 2013 Special Games Tournament for our 7 and 8 year old Rookie League. The Tournament will be all Player Pitch this year. Play will begin Thursday, June 6.
This year each district in Georgia will send 2 Rookie Teams to the State Sectionals. District 4 will participate in the NW Georgia Sectional which will begin June 14 and is comprised of Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4. One winner from each of Georgia's 3 Sectionals will advance to the Georgia State Rookie Championship which will begin June 21.
Schedules will be posted on the Schedule/Results page under Tournaments after the May 9 District Meeting. Home and Visitor status will be determined by a coin toss at the Managers' Meeting, Monday, June 3. Click here for the schedule page.
The Championship team will receive a District 4 Little League Championship banner to display at their home park. Each player, manager and coach in the tournament will receive a special commemorative trading pin. In addition, each team will receive an Ed Hosey Unsung Hero Award to present to one of their players who represents the traits that Little League holds dear: Character, Courage and Loyalty.
Tournament paperwork must be completed and verified by the District Administrator prior to the first game. The Local League tournament coordinator will complete the paperwork and the Team Manager will bring all paperwork to the Manager/Coach Briefing, Monday, June 3, at the Grantville ballfields board room, above the concession stand.
We expect all players, managers, coaches and parents/fans to conduct themselves with the utmost respect for their own team members as well as their opponents. In District 4 we Honor the Game by showing respect for all aspects of the game. We ask that you take a moment to familiar yourselves with the Roots of Honoring the Game, and share this handout with your parents. Together, we can make our events positive memories our children will carry with them the rest of their lives. Mandatory Manager/Coach Briefing, Monday, June 3, 7 pm, Grantville ball fields board room, above the concession stand. At least 1 representative per team must attend. Coin toss for home/visitor will be held at this meeting. Any team not represented will automatically lose the coin toss. All paperwork must be submitted at this meeting. Paperwork must be approved by the District Administrator prior to the team playing.
