Background Checks
The Regulation concerning Volunteer Applications and Background Checks can be found in the green Rule Book:  Regulation I (8) and (9).   All league volunteer applicants must submit the official Little League Volunteer Application with a photo ID to the local league president prior to the applicant assuming his/her duties for the current season.

All appllicants must be approved by the local league Board of Directors after successfully passing a background check.

The old regulation regarding background checks set the minimum requirement at a statewide check of a Sex Offender Registry (SOR).   Starting in 2007, leagues must conduct a National background check of the SOR, at a minimum, which includes all nationwide government SOR registries.

1.  Each league must now conduct at least a nationwide SOR check.
2.     Little League International is providing 125 free checks through LexisNexis, formerly ChoicePoint which goes beyond the minimum requirement and includes all United States SOR data plus criminal data in most states.
3.  Background checks beyond the first 125 free checks will cost leagues only $1 per check.
4.  Leagues must access the LexisNexis service through the Little League website at
http://littleleague.choicepoint.com
5.  Leagues can obtain information about LexisNexis and conducting background checks on the Little League website by clicking here.
